Our Walls Are Our Textbooks
August 2025
Textbooks are expensive, and there are never enough to go round. So at YAEC the walls do some of the teaching.
Along the verandahs you'll find the map of Uganda, the national coat of arms and flag, the human skeleton, the respiratory system, the skin and the inside of a maize fruit, all painted by hand in bright colours and labelled.
Pupils walk past them every day, and teachers bring classes outside to use them during lessons. It's common to see a group sitting on the edge of the verandah, books open, working from the wall above them.
The murals are one of the first things visitors notice, and one of the things our pupils are proudest of. Books for our library would help even more.
