Why Our Children Need a Better Kitchen

April 2026

For many of our pupils, the meal they get at school is one of the most important parts of the day. A hungry child can't concentrate.

At the moment every one of those meals is cooked over open wood fires in a small, dark kitchen. The walls are black from years of smoke, and when the big pots are on, the room fills with it.

Our cooks work hard in there every day, but hours of wood smoke isn't good for anyone, and a room like this is hard to keep clean.

What we'd like to build

A brighter kitchen that lets the smoke out, better stoves that use less firewood, and a clean place to prepare and store food. It would be healthier for the cooks and safer for the children.

You can give towards the new kitchen by Mobile Money or send us a pledge. If you know a builder, a church group or an organisation that could help, please get in touch.

The new classroom block showed what's possible when people pitch in. We'd love the kitchen to be next.
